MIYA FOLICK RELEASES “LAID” MAIN TITLE TRACK FROM THE PEACOCK ORIGINAL SERIES ‘LAID’

May 13, 2025 BY Bailey Vigliaturo

Miya Folick just released her self-produced third album Erotica Veronica via Nettwerk a few weeks ago, and today she shares “Laid” – Main Title from the Peacock Original Series ‘Laid.’ A cover of James’ 1993 song “Laid,” the song opens Peacock’s acclaimed new series of the same name, starring Academy Award-nominated actress Stephanie Hsu.

Folick previously scored feature film Cora Bora, directed by Hannah Utt and featuring Meg Stalter (Hacks), and has had her music featured in shows like Netflix’s Heartstopper and Apple Original’s The Buccaneers’ soundtrack.

A woman (Stephanie Hsu) finds out her former lovers are dying in unusual ways and must go back through her sex timeline to confront her past in order to move forward – LAID is a f**cked up rom-com where the answer to “Why can’t I find love, is there something wrong with me?” is a resounding “Yes. There is. The problem is definitely you.”

Folick is both audacious and hauntingly profound on new album Erotica Veronica, her psychosexual, psychosensual masterstroke: a kaleidoscopic portrait of self-realization and integration. There is a dilemma that haunts the record. There is a partner on the receiving end of these confessions. The song and the album seem to wonder: what is the right thing to do when your desires are more complex than the narrow channel our culture allows? “The album is about being queer within a heteronormative relationship structure and within a heteronormative society, but it’s also just about desire and eroticism in general. I don’t think we give each other enough room to explore freely and figure out our own right paths,” she says.

The album features contributions from Sam KS (Youth Lagoon, Angel Olsen) as co-producer and drummer, Meg Duffy (Hand Habits, Perfume Genius), Waylon Rector (Dominic Fike, Charli XCX), and Greg Uhlmann (Perfume Genius, SML) on guitar, and Pat Kelly (Perfume Genius, Levi Turner) on bass.
