Minneapolis Multi-Hyphenate Artist Landon Conrath Releases Hook-Laden Dazed & Confused EP; Watch “Static” Music Video

December 17, 2021 BY Nettwerk

Today, Minneapolis rising indie-pop artist Landon Conrath releases his hook-laden Dazed & Confused EP via Nettwerk Records. The multi-hyphenate musician and producer shows that there’s no limit to what he’s capable of. Over the course of four songs, Conrath invites listeners to experience a healthy dose of anthemic choruses, glistening guitars, and euphoric highs and lows.

Along with the EP release, Landon unveils the charming new music video for single “Static,” directed by Sawyer Brice. The video is full of earnestness as we see Conrath sing directly into camera in various haunts around his rainy hometown, lamenting over lost love.

“Static went on quite the journey as a song,” explains Landon. It started at a cabin my friend Alex (the co-producer of the track) was staying at in upstate New York… It felt like a “landon” song. The melody writing process turned out to be PAINFUL and I remember walking around in the studio absolutely drenched in sweat because the air conditioning was broken in the spot we were working out of. It was one of those times where I wish everyone could see how un-glamorous music-making truly is. I think people have the idea that songwriting is this effortless thing but it’s so painful for me most of the time. The self-doubt is ever-present when good melodies just seem to be non-existent. A month later we sat down for two days straight and breathed new life into the track and started to find a song that we actually believed in. From there it was effortless. We tracked vocals in a few hours and wrapped production the following week. I’ve been playing the song live at my shows for a few months and it is always a highlight of the set. I’m really excited for people to hear this song.”

Minneapolis musician Landon Conrath found his voice almost by accident. A drummer by trade, Conrath spent his formative years keeping the beat in bands rather than fronting them. It wasn’t until he opened up to a friend at a pool party with a new composition, he was encouraged to hone in his sound.

Conrath immersed himself in the recording process with reckless abandon. Since making his debut in 2020, Conrath’s distinctive brand of hook-laden indie-pop has seen him become a viral sensation on Spotify landing on influential playlists virtually overnight. His authentic, off-the-cuff style has resonated with listeners around the world amassing millions of streams. “I never wanted to make anything that was based on a trend. It’s exciting to have the freedom to really choose who I want to be and what I want to say. My goal is to make music that people can connect with.”

There’s a palpable energy on singles “Papercuts” and “lowercase,” as honest lyrics reflect on the perils of youth and “letting your heart do all the thinking.” The latest exploration comes with “2AM,” an uptempo groove full of glistening guitar licks and late-night revelations. It’s two am on the phone again, you got me thinking we’re more than friends. With each phrase Landon lives in the moment of emotional hell, taking kicks to the belt and we’re right there with him. “I think everyone has felt that sting of being led to believe something that isn’t true and the fallout that can take place in your brain.” Landon uses music to grapple with his uncertainty. He graduated college in the midst of the pandemic, found a new relationship, and signed a record deal with Nettwerk. Through it all, he’s found a way to stay true to himself.
