Miki Ratsula Shares Late Night Summer Jam “reeboks”

July 15, 2021 BY Nettwerk

Singer & songwriter Miki Ratsula shares another new song from their upcoming debut full-length (details tba) called “reeboks,” a late night summer jam that starts off wide and expansive, building until the beat drops, as Miki sings to their girlfriend about just wanting to be “young and in love.” “reeboks,” along with the rest of Miki’s forthcoming album, imbues a tenderness that makes their music so special to so many. They will be previewing this and other new songs along with past favorites this Friday, July 16th at Los Angeles’ Hotel Café (tickets here). “reeboks” is available at digital retailers tomorrow HERE.

Miki says, “’reeboks’ is a song about being so anxious about the future that I end up just running myself into the ground. I don’t want to dwell over such mundane things. I’d rather be excited for future things. At its roots, it’s a song about anxiety and the weight it carries on us.”

“reeboks” follows the release of Miki’s raw and personal lead single “second,” which, through their guitar and textured yet resonant vocals, dealt with their fears and anxiety around getting top surgery. The song was accompanied by a beautifully filmed video featuring their girlfriend, Hope. Miki said, “I knew I wanted the video to represent queer bodies and relationships in the most authentic way. Before getting my top surgery, I really wish I had seen more representation of what queer bodies can look like, and that they can be loved.” Watch it here: https://youtu.be/OkYhm7GXMAg

The So-Cal based, Finish-American nonbinary artist has built a sizable audience by openly and honestly welcoming people into their world, using their platform to candidly document their life, from coming out to getting top surgery. It’s the kind of storytelling that queer kids crave and deserve.
