Miami Horror Shares “Emagination (B-Side)” From ‘Illumination 10th Anniversary Edition’

March 3, 2021 BY Nettwerk

On March 19, Miami Horror, which began as a solo project by producer Benjamin Plant, will release a 10th-anniversary edition of their seminal debut, the ARIA-nominated album Illumination

Today, the band shares “Emagination (B-Side),” one of four B-sides that make up the anniversary edition. Speaking with MagneticMag, Plant says, “we’ve never been the type of band to release any B-sides or demos, so it was pretty exciting to dig through the archives and see if anything had merit.” Further adding, “’Emagination’ was supposed to be a bit of a sample house banger crossed with the psych-pop vocal that some 90s house tracks had. For the same reason, it also ties into the ethos of our track ‘I Look To You,’ which I’d characterize in a similar way.”

Ahead of the release, Miami Horror has dropped the synth-drenched reconstruction of The Church’s “Under The Milky Way,” as well as “I Look to You (feat. Kimbra) [Franc Moody Remix]” and the official music video for “Soft Light (feat. Alan Palomo).”

Miami Horror has generated 100 million-plus combined streams with anthems such as “I Look To You (feat. Kimbra),” “Real Slow (feat. Sarah Chernoff),” and standout singles – “Holidays (feat. Alan Palomo)” and “Sometimes” – from Illumination, which debuted at number 10 on the ARIA Charts.  They’ve also garnered acclaim from Billboard, NPR Music, Forbes, MTV, Pitchfork, Stereogum, EARMILK, and many others. They’ve graced the stages of festivals such as Coachella, Governors Ball, Electric Forest, Splendour in the Grass, Beyond the Valley, Just Like Heaven, Funka Fest in Ecuador, and Corona Capital Festival in Mexico.

In 2020, the idea to re-up Illumination first germinated. It began with a large demand for the vinyl to be restocked, but it morphed into something bigger.  “It was a chance for us to come back and celebrate the album in a way we didn’t get to at the time it was released because everything was so crazy,” he admits. “We never really got the chance to enjoy it. It’s a bit sentimental. We’re celebrating the atmosphere of what existed in music before streaming and social media. We got back to purely creating.”

To further celebrate the release, Miami Horror will make a 3-piece vinyl set available for fans. “Emagination” is available at digital retailers HERE: https://miamihorror.ffm.to/emagination.
