MEGA SHOWS HER HEROIC SPIRIT IN NEW SINGLE “MY BONES”

August 25, 2025 BY Bailey Vigliaturo

British rising star MEGA aka Megaishername today releases a new single “My Bones”, the latest offering from her deeply personal forthcoming EP, I Am Enough’. A statement of self-possession and strength, “My Bones” marks a powerful shift in energy — a soaring anthem for the fighters, the believers, and today’s super-women.

“My Bones’ is produced by Grammy and Mercury Prize-winner  Jonathan Quarmby (Lewis Capaldi, Benjamin Clementine). Its sun-kissed guitar riffs, warm djembe bass tones, and a soulful brass section are a rich nod to MEGA’s Ugandan roots and global influences. The track is driven by MEGA’s unmistakable voice — golden, emotive, and fiercely commanding. A rousing celebration of what happens when you know your worth, believe in yourself and lock in to your inner power. “My Bones” is a winner’s anthem: the sound of someone stepping into their spotlight.

“Over a period of time I lost myself being in environments that I can now see were toxic and were stripping me of my identity.  “My Bones” is  about taking that power back that I once gave away, but not just taking that power back, but standing strong in that power. I feel like confidence comes from doing things we are afraid of. Fear will never go away: as long as we are alive, we will feel fear. The more we leave our comfort zone, fear will be there to meet us every time. But we are not alone. This song is a gentle reminder to feel the fear but do it anyway (something I have been used to hearing in my household growing up). Last year I made so many changes that felt scary at the time, but they were some of the most important changes of my life. Writing “My Bones” was me taking that first step and remembering that my uniqueness is my superpower.” – MEGA

This track represents a significant moment in the ‘I Am Enough’ journey — a tonal gear-shift. Where the EP’s title track“I Am Enough” introduced listeners to a quiet, inner knowing, and “Roots” explored grounding and belonging, “My Bones” is the fiery victory lap. It’s the turning point — where reflection turns into momentum, vulnerability transforms into power, and belief becomes unshakable.

MEGA’s music is a vivid tapestry of influences, drawing from her Ugandan heritage, childhood experiences in choirs, and love of a broad spectrum of genres including soul, pop and indie. Early champions include the likes of The Independent, NME, Wonderland, Clash and support across BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and Radio 6. Her debut single, Chariot—a radiant anthem of hope and resilience—has now surpassed 50 million streams and led to two acclaimed EPs, Future Me and Colour Your World, praised for their mix of traditional African rhythms, empowering messages, and themes of mental resilience. MEGA first discovered her passion foor singing in an opera choir, and then, like many of the greatest vocalists, sang in a youth choir  (the legendary St Mary’s alma mater of Leona Lewis and Little Simz).

MEGA recently headlined the contemporary Meltdown Festivalat London’s Southbank Centre, receiving a rapturous response from fans. The 30th edition of the festival was curated by Little Simz and MEGA was joined on the bill by other hand-picked artists including The Streets,  Sasha Keable, Lola Young,  Ghetts and Jon Batiste.

The power of her music is evident in its unique ability to connect with a global fanbase and unite people from every walk of life, the communal nature is palpable when MEGA plays live – a special sight indeed. MEGA has sold out shows across Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris and her hometown of London, gracing stages of some of the UK and Europe’s most notable festivals including  Reading & Leeds Festival, Cross The Tracks, Latitude and Montreux Jazz Festival. Performing on stage is something that has become a second nature to MEGA, further honed over the years on tours with the likes of Cat Burns, Self Esteem, Hozier & more.

Rather than searching for our place in the world, MEGA’s latest single “My Bones” invites us to go one step further: To connect with our power. To own our story. To claim the win.
