Massachusetts Duo Handsome Ghost Signs With Nettwerk | Shares New Single/Music Video “Heaven Isn’t Long For You”
September 23, 2022 BY Jason Currell
Nettwerk is excited to announce the signing of Massachusetts duo Handsome Ghost. Comprised of singer/songwriter Tim Noyes and multi-instrumentalist/producer Eddie Byun, the band communes in a creative call-and-response, answering each other’s personal and musical confessions, thoughts, and questions sonically. Underpinned by these two perspectives, the music tempers otherworldly production with organic performances, raw production, and nostalgic warmth with future-facing wonder. After amassing tens of millions of streams and receiving widespread acclaim, the pair continue to explore the intricacies of their artistic bond and friendship that is embedded with their new music on the horizon.
Today, Handsome Ghost shares their new single “Heaven Isn’t Long For You,” which is accompanied by a music video directed by Nolan Englund. On “Heaven Isn’t Long For You,” the banjo sets the tone with a delicate twang in sync with layers of mandolin tracks as well as acoustic and electric guitars. It builds towards a tambourine-laden perfectly tailored for a campfire sing along. On the narrative home front, “Heaven Isn’t Long For You” bleeds into a diaristic tone, lyrics woven with the idea of an idyllic habitat that seems so close yet couldn’t be further away. The lyrics and sonic tone have a striking balance between quiet reflectiveness and a happy-go-lucky cadence.
Of the new track, Tim Noyes of Handsome Ghost unfolds this, “The song is based on the concept of living in this perfect place (call it ‘Heaven’ if you like, no pressure) and getting to do exactly what you want to do whenever you want to do it. And would that ever get old? For me, probably? Is it better to have everything just right all of the time? Or be human with flaws and challenges and emotion? This is the question.”

Music video director Nolan Englund shares this about his creative process, “My aim for this video was to create something mysterious, evocative, and fun! The song ‘Heaven Isn’t Long For You’ expresses a wonderfully compelling duality, by way of its melancholy lyrics and its care-free musicality. I wanted to create a video that captures this duality. The video is simply about good times naturally coming to an end. Everyone leaves the party eventually, and all we can ask for is to have fun while we are there.”
Handsome Ghost reemerged in late August with the release of “Neptune,” their first new music since 2020’s Some Still Morning LP. Powered by clean guitars, hushed vocals, and a plush ambience, the recent offering is sonically pieced together seamlessly and effectively. While intricately crafted arrangements and peaceful textures contribute to the song’s alluring grasp, it’s lyricist Tim Noyes’ delicate portrait of an enigmatic woman that keeps you sticking around.
Handsome Ghost joins Nettwerk’s expanding label roster, including artists like Wrabel, Harrison Storm, Old Sea Brigade, Andrew McMahon, and others.
