Today, German indie-pop artist lùisa shares “To Let You Go,” the third and most personal single from her upcoming album that tackles head-on the sudden loss of a loved one. She explains, “I had a hard time in the past years trying to cope with the death of a very close family member who passed away in an accident. I found out that death and grief are oftentimes topics that we do not talk about very openly, which sometimes makes the process of grief even harder. Still, over the years, I found out how many people have lost a loved one that was too young to go. I found out that I am not alone with my experience. I would like to dedicate this song to these people who have lost a loved one too early.”

LISTEN (AND SHARE) “TO LET YOU GO”:

“To Let You Go” follows “Deep Sea State of Mind,” and “Late Summer Day;” her first new tracks released after a three-year hiatus taken to mourn and heal from the loss. Lúisa adds, “In order to be able to write again, I first had to put it behind me. I never lost sight of the music, but on a creative level I needed this time before I could start the next album.”

For the upcoming record, she recruited Berlin-based producer Tobias Siebert—known for his work with Me And My Drummer, among others—to help her with the project. The result is an exciting, groove-laden album with clear seventies and eighties influences like Fleetwood Mac and Sade blended with modern indie-pop references like The War On Drugs. Stay tuned for more to come from lùisa soon.
