London Musician MATT MALTESE Shares New Single “The Earth Is A Very Small Dot”; Announces 2024 World Tour

September 22, 2023 BY Bailey Vigliaturo

Today, acclaimed London artist Matt Maltese releases his new single “The Earth is a Very Small Dot,” and announces a huge run of UK, EU & US touring for early next year, including stops in Nashville at Basement East, New York City at Irving Plaza, and in Los Angeles at The Wiltern. Tickets for all of Matt’s 2024 shows are available HERE.

Explaining the story behind the new single, Matt states, “I guess it’s an age-old wisdom that perspective is everything when worrying about your own life. But it’s been something I’ve come back to time and time again. That the world is a small speck, and we’re even smaller specks on it. And remembering this can sometimes help me contextualize fears and worries and be much calmer because of it. Side note – at other times, it can be completely terrifying that our size is so physically meaningless when faced against the behemoth that is the universe. But this song was me on a good day.”

Matt Maltese released his fourth album, Driving Just To Drive, via Nettwerk earlier this year, receiving praise from the likes of NME, Dork, DIY, The Line Of Best Fit, and CLASH. He also shared Live At The Dealership – a special filmed performance of songs from Driving Just To Drive, featuring some of Matt’s beloved friends HERE.

To support the record, Matt journeyed throughout Taipei, Manila, Singapore, Bangkok, and Seoul in May for his first headline shows in each country. He appeared at festivals all over the U.S., including Shaky Knees in Atlanta, Governors Ball Festival in New York in June, and Lollapalooza in Chicago this past August, and will be performing at Austin City Limits weekend one this October to wrap up the year.

Matt Maltese has racked up half a billion streams across all platforms (with viral single “As The World Caves In” counting for 300 million of them) and currently has over 6 million monthly listeners. Matt’s audience also continues to grow on social media, with 500,000 followers now on TikTok, where global superstars like Doja Cat and BTS’ Kim Taehyung have become firm fans – the former even hosted an Instagram Live singalong of ‘Curl Up And Die.’ Frank Ocean has also featured Matt’s single “Rom-Com Gone Wrong” on his Blonded Radio. Matt is credited as a songwriter on Jamie T’s 2022 #1 record All In Good Time, with Jamie naming him one of the UK’s best young songwriters in multiple press interviews around the album’s release.
