LITANY RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM ‘SADGIRL’ OUT NOW VIA NETTWERK
April 25, 2025 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
After years of building a dedicated cult following with her emotionally honest alt-pop and razor-sharp storytelling, Harrogate’s own Litany today shares her long-awaited debut album, ‘Sadgirl’, out now via Nettwerk. Alongside it lands ‘Vertigo’, the album’s heartbreaking yet quietly defiant centre-piece and new focus single; a track that starts in emotional freefall and ends with the kind of clarity that only comes after the storm.

Sadgirl is an album that unveils the raw, unfiltered side of mental health, heartbreak, and self-discovery. It’s a journey through the darkness of anxiety, depression, and the slow but resolute road to healing. With a sound that blends glossy, genre-defying pop with vulnerability and emotion, Litany brings a truly honest portrayal of what it means to be human.
“Writing Sadgirl was about understanding myself through the wreckage,” Litany reflects. “It’s about letting go of the fear and facing the parts of myself I’d spent years avoiding.”
Opening with the emotional intensity of ‘Vertigo’, Litany’s unrelenting honesty is on full display – it’s a song that gradually rises from dependence to self-realisation. Tracks like the album’s title track and ‘Kingpin’ dissect the weight of societal and personal expectations, while songs like ‘Jelly Tot’ and ‘Future Us’ offer a glimmer of light in a landscape of shadows, a reminder that joy and pain can coexist.
Closing with ‘Alright’, Litany delivers a moment of self-acceptance, a bittersweet but hopeful realisation that healing comes from within. It’s a powerful end to an album that takes the listener on a transformative journey, from darkness to light, from heartbreak to understanding.
In celebration of the album’s release, Litany has also announced a full UK and Ireland headline tour for autumn 2025. The Sadgirl tour kicks off in Glasgow on 28th October, with stops in Newcastle, Bristol, Brighton, Leeds, Liverpool, Dublin, and London, where she’ll bring the album to life at The Garage on 12th November.
