LEISURE Shares ‘Side B’ EP (Out Today Via Nettwerk Records)

The genre-defying New Zealand outfit LEISURE has unveiled their new EP Side B (out today via Nettwerk Records). Crafted during a trip to France, the five-track EP reflects the band’s signature sound, a silky smooth amalgam of laid-back R&B, electronica with hints of ’70s funk.
About the EP, the band had this to say: “’Side B’ is a culmination of moods and atmospheres we worked on in these endlessly unpredictable times, pushing the sonics between both intimate and grandiose perspectives. We always try to create with freedom, and ‘Side B’ is a progression of letting go and simply releasing music that feels nice to our ears no matter how it’s created. The EP plays thematically between consciousness and unconsciousness, embracing challenges and moving forward to better oneself in a time where human connection is at an all-time low. We hope that these vibrations can accompany the human spirit on the escalator to the mad world ahead and breathe some life into those emotions that have been missing in recent times.“
With the release of the EP, fans can check out two previously unreleased singles – the vibey “Visions Of You” and the laidback, smooth cut “Miles Away” – in addition to the previously released companion singles “Take Me Higher”/”Mesmerised,” and the lush, groovy number “Flipside.”
As the companion release to last year’s Side A EP, Side B sees the five-piece collective explore new sonic terrain while simultaneously staying true to their trademark downbeat sound. It’s their unique brand of electro-funk and shoegaze that has charmed fans around the world.
