LEISURE Shares New Single “Slipping Away”
June 26, 2020 BY Nettwerk
New Zealand band LEISURE shares their new single “Slipping Away” (out now via Nettwerk Records). A delicate, weightless track, “Slipping Away” glides by effortlessly, combining the soaring lead vocal with warm, relaxed instrumentation.
“‘Slipping Away’ comes from a place of good intention,” the band explains. “Knowing you need to step up and be better for the ones you love despite on-going challenges. Musically we based the song around the guitar riff which was a first for us.”
LEISURE’s latest serving marks their first release since last year’s sophomore album TWISTER, a freeform exploration into pop psychedelia, smooth R&B, and big room modern soul music that showcased the group’s rich musical talents in their entirety. 2019 also saw the New Zealanders successfully complete a European tour, which included sold-out dates in London and Berlin as well as a debut double performance at Brighton’s The Great Escape.
With everything underpinned by their genuine friendship and democratic writing process, ensuring LEISURE consistently delivers a steady stream of blissed-out homage to laidback pleasure. After all, life in the slow lane has legs – as this band proves. Now with over 150 million streams to their name, they’re going the distance, at their own pace, in their own way.
The first release after a brief hiatus, “Slipping Away” sees LEISURE move into a new creative chapter.
About LEISURE:
Made up of five independently talented and successful members, they can be summed up as an NZ supergroup, made up of producers & songwriters. LEISURE is an anomaly in the music industry. Their debut track “Got It Bad” crossed the globe with it’s funked up, psychedelic blissed-out homage to laid-back pleasure. It seems their highly democratic band structure, where everyone can play whichever instrument they like, produced some gold dust. Having amassed over 50 million streams on their 2016 self-titled debut album, which entered at #2 in the NZ charts, they have built a rabid, loyal fan base that has seen their rare live shows sell out and become the stuff of legends. Their music has become a staple in the sync world; they have collaborated with hip-hop star, Gold Link, and released their latest album TWISTER via Nettwerk Records.
