LEISURE Drops ‘Side A’ EP; Listen To “Eye 2 Eye”

Acclaimed New Zealand five-piece LEISURE have unveiled their new EP Side A, along with brand new single “Eye 2 Eye” (out today via Nettwerk Records).
A five-track release, Side A commences with the ethereal vibes of “Slipping Away,” LEISURE’s first single release of the new decade that has since surpassed 3 million Spotify streams to date. Next up, is the seductive funk of the group’s most recent single “Lonely Nights,” a track inspired by Japanese city pop and The Bee Gees.
“‘SIDE A’ began its journey in an Airbnb in a small village on the outskirts of Paris, the realization of an off the cuff comment about us creating our next album in the South of France,” LEISURE recall. “It was a surreal experience processing how the band had come this far and the excitement in feeling we still had a lot to give. We started writing songs that were open and confident, and this continued as we arrived home to our families. The production evolved in the sense we tracked live to tape as a band which created a new dynamic to the recordings. A new chapter and the beginnings of a steady release of new music.”
Side A follows an eventful 2019 that saw the Auckland outfit release sophomore album TWISTER and complete a European tour which included sold-out dates in London and Berlin alongside a debut double performance at Brighton festival The Great Escape.
Forming in 2015 during a spontaneous trip up to New Zealand’s west coast, LEISURE quickly gained attention with their self-titled debut album. Released in 2016, LEISURE peaked at #2 in the NZ charts and received worldwide critical acclaim. The album also included a notable collaboration, “Nobody” with US rapper GoldLink. Now with over 150 million streams to their name, they’re going the distance, at their own pace, in their own way.
Coinciding with the group’s fifth anniversary, Side A is a landmark EP that emphasizes how far LEISURE has come in such a short space of time.
