“The electronic collective bind together club elements, fusing them into melodic bursts of digitised pop.” – Clash
“Kudu Blue are riding a new wave of retro-fitted dance music.” – Mixmag
Brighton-based quartet Kudu Blue have returned today with a scintillating new song. Inspired by the lo-fi, bassy underground sound of Burial, “Fire” is a fantastically vibrant and hook-laden track about being independent and learning to recognise the strength within yourself.
“I feel like it’s important to acknowledge that you are responsible for your own feelings and actions,” explained the group. “We all have the power to decide how we want to feel each day and how we choose to spend our time.”
“Fire” is taken from the group’s upcoming new EP – due out in late 2021 – and it’s a step forward on consolidating them as rising stars on the UK scene. Made up of Clem (vocals), Owen (keys), Tom (bass) and Creeda (rhythms), Kudu Blue give you a refreshing snapshot of contemporary music in the UK, a back-to-basics postcard from the underground club scene. Their distinctly fresh sound brings on a new wave of progressive modern dance-pop, encompassing influence from across both time and space. From 90’s trip-hop & sound system culture, all the way through to Buddhist chanting, and back around to old skool hip-hop & R&B. They gained fans from a diverse array of key publications and stations, including The Line of Best Fit, Mixmag, Wonderland, Complex, Clash, Earmilk, BBC Radio DJs Lauren Laverne, Melvin & Charlie, Jamz Supernova, Fubar Radio and foundation fm.
The past two years have seen the productive Kudu Blue release two genre-defying EPs (Auras & Are You With Me?), played major events such as Glastonbury, All Points East, BBC Introducing Live and toured with the likes of Tennyson and Vök. Singer Clem has also contributed/featured vocals on some of UK dance music’s biggest acts including The Prototypes, MJ Cole and DJ Zinc.
