Kacy Hill Unveils New Single “Please Don’t Cry”

Phoenix-born, LA-based singer-songwriter Kacy Hill returns with her exquisite new single, “Please Don’t Cry,” out today via Nettwerk. The track offers another sonic flavor of Hill’s forthcoming project, showcasing her masterful fusion of traditional folk influences with contemporary production.
Co-written by Kacy Hill, Campbell Burns (of Vacations), and John Velasquez (Zella Day, Gatlin), and co-produced by Tommy King (HAIM, RAYE) and Hill herself, “Please Don’t Cry” exemplifies her distinctive approach to the folk and Americana landscape. With its blend of warm, earthy tones and modern sonic textures alongside Hill’s clear, expressive voice, the single continues her exploration of storytelling through an updated lens.
Reflecting on the song’s creation, Hill shares, “‘Please Don’t Cry’ was written on a weird feeling October day. I was wearing boots, and after trying to find chords that would stick to no avail, I sang a goofy twangy melody with the lyrics ‘My feeeet get hot, I take my boots off every chance I got.’ We then realized I had unintentionally written a tremendous chorus melody, and the rest of the song fell out of me right after, lyrics and all.”
“Please Don’t Cry” follows Hill’s previous 2025 single, “When in Rome.” The track, co-written with John Vincent III and also co-produced by Tommy King, delves into the vulnerable “hoping stage” of a breakup, reflecting on the lingering desire to rewrite an ending and avoid the finality of loss. “Please Don’t Cry” and “When In Rome” serve as previews into the sonic palette of Hill’s upcoming project, which will be a collection of songs that underscores her artistic reinvention, while maintaining her distinctive and alluring style.
