UK based composer and pianist Joe Alexander Shepherd shares his new single “We Rise,” written for the short video, simply titled Italia, by Italian filmmaker Oliver Astrologo.

The project was intended to make a positive out of the awful Coronavirus disease that is affecting the country and the world by showing how beautiful and resilient Italy and Italian people really are. It was welcomed with warm support by the public, receiving over three million views on Facebook and YouTube.
A graduate from Paul McCartney’s acclaimed Academy of Music in Liverpool, Shepherd composes and performs intricate, minimalist contemporary-classical music in the vein of Ludovico Einaudi, Michael Nyman, Dustin O’Hallron and beyond.
Writing and composing music since he was 15 years old, Shepherd mixes modern contemporary-classical with subtle touches of atmospheric melancholy. Piano has always been in the heart of his songs, adding his own unique twist with textural synths to bring the simplistic melodies to life.
As an in-demand composer Shepherd has composed music for the likes of UEFA, Rugby Football Union (RFU), BBC1, BBC2 and Land Rover to name a few. His first EP, Time, came out in 2018 on Nettwerk.
