Jim and Sam Share New Track “Calling It Quits” From Documentary ‘After So Many Days’

April 29, 2019 BY Nettwerk

Los Angeles-based husband/wife duo Jim and Sam have released “Calling It Quits,” a new song that is prominently featured in their documentary After So Many Days, which recently premiered at the Dallas International Film Festival, and will screen at Northwestfest in Edmonton, Canada as the opening night film on May 2nd and at Cinetopia in Ann Arbor, MI May 16th through 18th.

“’Calling It Quits’ is about the battle between courage and self-doubt,” explains Jim and Sam.   “We had just recently gotten married and were feeling anxious about the future of our lives in music. A few weeks after writing this song and feeling the need to break out of our rut, we made the decision to play one show every day for a year. We recorded this song in a hotel in Stockholm, Sweden on day #32 of our 365-day tour.”

Originally from Philadelphia and Dallas, Jim Hanft and Samantha Yonack met at a mutual friend’s comedy show in Los Angeles and began making music together a week later.  In 2015 they self-released their debut EP, “This is What’s Left” and in 2019 released their sophomore EP, “Yeah Whatever Young Forever” through Nettwerk.  With a background in editing and theater and a commitment to storytelling and performing, Jim and Sam crossed over into filmmaking during their “Anywhere Everywhere Tour,” where they played one show every day for a year.  Hopeful the tour would reveal something about what drives them to create, they picked up a camera and began to film every single day. Upon completion of the year, they recruited their childhood best friends Natalia Anderson (Band-Aid, Life In Pieces) and Kyle Weber (Fresh Off The Boat, Modern Family) to join them in turning their perspective-shifting journey into their first feature-length documentary, After So Many Days.

Jim and Sam’s European/UK tour starts May 6th in Leipzig, Germany and takes them through 10 countries before they wrap up on May 31st in Warsaw, Poland. All dates are HERE.

About After So Many Days:

After a decade of making music together, Jim and Sam, a recently married singer/songwriter duo from Los Angeles, were not the conventionally successful band they hoped they’d be. Feeling stuck and anxious about their future, the duo made a spontaneous decision to go “all in,” making a pact to play one show every day for a year. With suitcases and a guitar, the troubadours ventured out for a 365-day tour down unexplored roads, and onto unexpected stages, bringing their music to new audiences throughout 14 different countries. After So Many Days, is an intimate front row seat to the highs and lows of what it’s like for two people to pursue a dream, together.
