Jaguar Jonze Shares “MURDER” Music Video; Partners With Christian Louboutin For Concept Film

Jaguar Jonze (the moniker for musician-artist Deena Lynch) shares the cinematic and character-driven video for “MURDER,” the second in a 5-part series of visuals that delve into the complex mind and multi-faceted personas of Lynch.  Co-directed by Ribal Hosn (Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Wonderland, Oyster), each music video for the forthcoming EP will be transformed into an antihero character “in a cyberpunk, anime, futuristic, graphic, almost sci-fi world,” says Deena.

“MURDER” is a straight-up exorcism of malignant past relationships disguised as a mid-tempo pop song.  About the track, Deena says, “’MURDER’ is about when a relationship gets pushed beyond a boundary that should’ve never been crossed and why we ever thought that was a good idea. Wishing that we could go back to where it was before that line was crossed but knowing we’re both guilty of having made that decision to, put grimly, ‘kill’ that relationship.

Deena Lynch was commissioned by Christian Louboutin to create a concept film, draw two visual artworks and produce photos featuring herself, in collaboration with Louboutin’s Fall/Winter 2020 Cube Collection. Not only did she create all that, but she also styled, designed and art directed each concept and decided to learn French during hotel quarantine to compose the music.

About the collaboration, she says, “the inspiration behind the Christian Louboutin Fall/Winter ‘20 Collection instantly transported me to a playful Paris where pop culture, dance, cinema, abstract art, geometry, couture, and colorful festivities make up a part of its DNA. With each collection, Louboutin creates a new world, so I wanted to create my own drawing from the Paris that he and I know so that they all exist individually but come together to be a part of the same universe. While I was working on the film, writing English words didn’t seem to convey the world I wanted to build so I decided I was going to learn basic French in 3 days to write the music. I wanted every aspect of the film, the visual artworks, and photography to stay playful and magical – ‘In my Louboutin world, Je Suis Une poupée’.”

Back home, Deena will be collaborating with 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art to transform her art into augmented reality street posters (via Eyejack app). Distributed in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, the AR element will bring viewers deep into the artist’s conceptual world. About Jaguar Jonze:

Australian singer/songwriter, producer, and multimedia artist Jaguar Jonze (aka Deena Lynch) is nothing short of a manifold visionary.  Jaguar Jonze and its adjacent projects, the narrative illustration project Spectator Jonze and the gender-subverting photography project Dusky Jonze, are powerful ways in which Deena processes her most intimate vulnerabilities while empowering others to do the same. Deena’s meticulously realized work has earned her partnerships with brands like Christian Louboutin, Reebok, BMW, Obey and Stüssy, and an abundance of the press (FLAUNT, Line Of Best Fit, NME, VICE, Fashion Journal, Style Magazine, Vogue Australia, Marie Claire Australia) praising her commitment to confronting social ills and breaking stigmas.  Signed to Nettwerk Records, the enigmatic yet vulnerable songwriter delivers defiant ferocity through smoky vocals that shift between fragile and forceful on the forthcoming EP (details TBA), the follow up to her ethereal-pop debut EP Diamonds & Liquid Gold.
