Jaguar Jonze Shares “DEADALIVE” Music Video

September 25, 2020 BY Nettwerk

Jaguar Jonze (the moniker for musician-artist Deena Lynch) shares the cinematic and character-driven video for “DEADALIVE.”  Co-directed by Ribal Hosn (Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Wonderland, Oyster), the video is the first in a stunning 5-part series of visuals that delve into the complex mind and multi-faceted personas of Lynch.  With each official music video, every track from the forthcoming EP will be transformed into an antihero character “in a cyberpunk, anime, futuristic, graphic, almost sci-fi world,” says Deena.

The fibrillating first single “DEADALIVE” is a testament to Deena’s industrious nature and love for making music.  Notes Deena, “if you’re listening to the lyrics, it’s obvious I’m singing about the pandemic.”  It was written with her band in New York City just as the pandemic hit.  Deena was planning to tour Diamonds & Liquid Gold (her exquisite, ethereal-pop debut) starting at a festival in New York, SXSW, then briefly touring the States. Of course, that didn’t happen.  Within hours of landing, the city completely shut down. Sequestered in a one-bedroom rental near Gramercy Park, Deena, and the band penned “DEADALIVE,” the melodic manifestation of a reeling mind.  The fastest song Deena has ever recorded (“I would consider it chaos,” she explains), it was written, “in a pressure-cooker environment of uncertainty and tension.”  A week later, they each managed to find flights back home.  While her bandmates arrived healthy, Deena contracted COVID-19 on a stretch over the Pacific Ocean.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more music and info.  “DEADALIVE” is now available in stores, click HERE.

About Jaguar Jonze:

Australian singer/songwriter, producer and multimedia artist Jaguar Jonze (aka Deena Lynch) is nothing short of a manifold visionary.  Jaguar Jonze and its adjacent projects, the narrative illustration project Spectator Jonze and the gender-subverting photography project Dusky Jonze, are powerful ways in which Deena processes her most intimate vulnerabilities while empowering others to do the same. Deena’s meticulously realized work has earned her the partnerships with brands like Christian Louboutin, Reebok, BMW, Obey and Stüssy, and an abundance of press (FLAUNT, Line Of Best Fit, NME, VICE, Fashion Journal, Style Magazine, Vogue Australia, Marie Claire Australia) praising her commitment to confronting social ills and breaking stigmas.  Signed to Nettwerk Records, the enigmatic yet vulnerable songwriter delivers defiant ferocity through smoky vocals that shift between fragile and forceful on the forthcoming EP (details TBA), the follow up to her ethereal-pop debut EP Diamonds & Liquid Gold.
