Indie Trio Wild Rivers Share Acoustic Take On “Safe Flight”; US Tour On Sale Now

August 22, 2022 BY Jason Currell

Today, indie trio Wild Rivers share an acoustic version of their single “Safe Flight.” The melancholy track is off their latest album, Sidelines, and is a reflection on a relationship. The band explains, “After all the ups and downs, we’re looking at it from a distance, accepting and moving on. We use the analogy of a flight to talk about a failing relationship. It’s both the literal representation of long distance and a metaphor for the relationship, navigating our way through rough conditions. I’ll be OK, and I wish you all the best. Have a safe flight.”

In September, the band will head out on U.S. tour that includes stops at Thalia Hall in Chicago, the El Rey in Los Angeles, The Fillmore in San Francisco, Brooklyn Steel in New York, as well as Darius Rucker’s Riverfront Revival Music Festival, and more. A full list of dates can be found below, and tickets are on-sale now at www.wildriversmusic.com

For the tour, the band has partnered with REVERB again to donate $1 from each ticket sold to support their environmental goals to eliminate tour emissions, including fan travel to and from shows. Like their past tours this year, this will reduce the environmental footprint and create a carbon-positive tour.  In addition to being carbon positive, the band created a one of a kind merch item, a keychain with a cartoon fallopian tube by artist Justin Broadbent, and 100% of the net proceeds will be donated to Planned Parenthood.  The dates will follow two sold-out U.S. runs this past year, a nearly sold-out debut tour in Europe, and performances earlier this summer at Bottlerock and Bonnaroo.

Wild Rivers [Khalid Yassein (guitars, vocals, keys), Andrew Oliver (lead guitar, synths), Devan Glover (vocals)] new album, Sidelines, which debuted at #9 in the U.S. on the Spotify Debut Album Chart, captures the band as they navigate their twenties, moving from the college years into the uncharted territories of adulthood. It was co-produced by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Sharon van Etten) and recorded in Connecticut, Los Angeles, and Khalid and Devan’s college town of Kingston, Ontario. Described by Line of Best Fit as “a confident and mature record,” while Wonderland said it is “sure to calm your soul and centre your mind” and Under the Radar lauded the band’s sophomore album as “a piece of poignant pop beauty.” Wild Rivers have earned over 250 million streams and a devoted fanbase for their expertly crafted harmonies, introspective lyricism, and incredible live show.
