Indie Rock Artist & Producer HARMLESS Signs to Nettwerk

March 18, 2022 BY Jason Currell

Today, indie R&B artist and producer Harmless shares his new EP, Mr. Baby. It is his first new release since signing to Nettwerk earlier this year. Harmless is the brainchild of Los Angeles-based, Mexico City-born songwriter/producer Nacho Cano. The EP, lovingly named after his dog, was recorded over the last two years in the small one-bedroom apartment he shares with his soon-to-be wife and was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Andrés Rebellón.

When asked about the record Nacho explains, “Most songs were recorded with the intention of being played live to an audience. Love is a great theme to sing about. It can either come off as sincere or corny, and no matter what it connects with someone. Alone in these small hours of vocal recording, I dreamt of becoming this suave persona on stage, of doing bits and jokes and putting on a good show for everyone. If I could make someone laugh or sing along then being indoors would be completely worth it. I’d stare at the reflection of my living room lamp and tv and sing as romantically as I could to no one.” After two years of singing alone, Harmless just wrapped up a sold-out west coast tour with Australian band Vacations that included a night at the iconic Roxy in Los Angeles.

With lyrics in English and SpanishMr. Baby includes previously released singles “Mrs. Moody,” “U UP?,” “Nacho’s,” “Hannah Don’t Lurk,” and “Call Katie” plus the sultry unreleased title track, “Mr. Baby.”

Harmless is a colorful mix of emotions woven seamlessly with bright electronic synths, smooth vocals, and the occasional playful saxophone. He used hip hop to expand his English when he immigrated to San Diego at ten years old. He eventually moved to Los Angeles to study film in college, but it was not until a job editing music to images that he realized music was the passion he wanted to pursue full-time. Since then, he has released musical projects under Twin Cabins, Canito, and currently Harmless. In 2019 his 2012 track, “Swing Lynn,” recorded originally as Twin Cabins, started to gain new momentum on TikTok and has not stopped growing since, amassing over 200 million streams.

Stay tuned for more from Harmless soon.
