Indie-folk Trio Oliver Hazard Offers Words of Wisdom in Upbeat “Workingman’s Folk”

August 1, 2025 BY Emma Orland

Indie-folk trio Oliver Hazard returns with new single “Workingman’s Folk,” off their forthcoming album Raindrop River out September 26th, With their signature blend of warm harmonies, homespun storytelling, and upbeat acoustic instrumentation, the track offers a powerful glimpse into the quiet dignity and hidden complexities of the working class. Listen HERE and watch HERE.

“’Workingman’s Folk’ is about someone you might know, maybe a relative, maybe just a good person who picked a simpler, more comfortable path. It’s about this idea of working hard, but using their work to avoid dealing with some of the more emotional or important stuff in life. There’s a bit of stubbornness in that lifestyle, but there’s also something respectable about it. I think the song tries to hold both of those truths at the same time, honoring the grind while also questioning what it might be covering up,” states Oliver Hazard.

While some musicians are scheming to go viral, Oliver Hazard – Mike Belazis (frontman, guitars), Devin East (guitars) and Nate Miner (keys) – have been thriving the old-fashioned way: squeezing into a van, traversing a tangle of Interstates, and winning over fans one city at a time. At the start of their career, the band created a Living Room Tour, where one fan would host the band and invite over some friends. Since then, Oliver Hazard has headlined their own national tour, created the Oliver Hazard Day festival in their hometown of Waterville, OH, played Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits, and amassed nearly 850K Spotify monthly listeners. Thus far, the group has released a pair of albums (34 N. River, Oliver Hazard) and two EPs (The Flood, Northern Lights). With the new EP, Raindrop River, Oliver Hazard continues to showcase their unrelenting charm.
