Indie-Folk Duo Hollow Coves Return with the Uplifting New Single “Harder to Fake It”

September 15, 2023 BY Emma Orland

Today, beloved indie-folk duo Hollow Coves make their highly anticipated return with the release of upbeat new single + video “Harder to Fake It.” The first new music since 2021’s single “Purple,” Hollow Coves reignite the fire with an impassioned song about seizing your moment and making the most of the life you have. Written with fellow Aussie artists and friends Matt Corby and Alex Henrikkson, the song’s racing rhythms underscore Hollow Coves’ signature harmonies. Listen to “Harder to Fake It” on all digital retailers (here).

The band elaborates: “In a world where people are so often formed by the actions and opinions of others, we wanted to write a song to encourage people to stop following the herd and carve out your own path. We co-wrote this song with Matt Corby and Alex Henrikkson and the lyrics kind of just poured out collectively. We have seen so many people let themselves be formed by other people. I get it. People want to fit in. However, I feel like sometimes we are too afraid of being different. Again and again, I have found myself meeting people with incredible dreams for what they want to do with their lives, and yet they never act on them because they are too afraid of failure or judgement. Meanwhile they are working a job that they hate and they’re unhappy. So they just go with it, purely because that job is a more ‘normal’ path.”

Hollow Coves are excited to embark on a run of Australian + New Zealand tour dates kicking off this month in Auckland. Find the full list of tour dates below and go to www.hollowcoves.com for more details.

MORE ABOUT HOLLOW COVES:

A dynamic indie-folk group brimming with their passion for travel and observing different shades of the world, Hollow Coves first caught attention with their debut EP Wanderlust (2017) followed by their 2019 debut full-length Moments, whose songs were inspired by reflecting on a variety of moments and unforgettable shared experiences in their lives and the lives of those around them. In 2021, they shared their EP Blessings. Written and recorded in their home studio on the Gold Coast, the EP came together during a time where togetherness felt far away. Ryan and Matt turned inward, finding truths and stories in their respective pasts, and putting them to song.

The duo’s tender melodies and poignant lyrics have resonated with fans around the world with the band amassing over 1-billion on-demand global streams to date and boasting a YouTube channel subscriber base of 508k+. Singles “Coastline” and the “The Woods” are certified Gold in Canada, with “Coastline” is certified “Gold” in Australia. Their songs have been used more than 700-million times alone on Facebook/Instagram to soundtrack user’s most unforgettable life events. Elsewhere in the media, Hollow Coves have received acclaim from the likes of Billboard, ClashSunday TimesOnes to Watch, Under the Radar, and more.
