Indie-Folk Duo Beta Radio Reach Emotional Heights On New Album ‘Waiting For The End To Come’

North Carolina indie-folk duo Beta Radio is not just on the verge of something new with Waiting For The End To Come, they are in the midst of it. Recorded during a weeklong retreat in Nashville, the two longtime friends, Ben Mabry and Brent Holloman, broke the mold, and for the first time in their careers, they opened up their process to the outside world, working with new songwriters. The result is 10 songs that reach emotional heights while soaring on mystical themes. Listen HERE.

“Waiting For The End To Come is about the end of familiarity and about stepping into the unknown. It’s a record about acknowledging that your past is what made you who you are, leaving it behind, and stepping into unfamiliar terrain so that you can make room for what happens next. One of the last lines on the record is ‘time demands, you can’t wait around a silhouette in a door… inside sinking, thinking what to do,’ I didn’t realize it at the time, but I think that line was me predicting my future. At a certain point we are pushed out of whatever in-between place we have lodged ourselves into, and are propelled into whatever life has next for us,” Beta Radio reveals about the album.

Waiting For The End To Come includes the previously released singles “This One’s Going to Hurt,” “Floating Through,” “Halfway In A Dream,” “Find Someone” and “The Grief Of,” which Glide Magazine raves is “euphoria is on full display.” 

If 2021’s Year of Love is about searching for language, answers, and love, Waiting for the End to Come is about finding it. Every song has such an expansive sound that is grounded in a physicality gorgeously set against the sonic wall of acoustic guitars, strings, and the harmonies for which Beta Radio has become so well known. On this album, that energy is underpinned and supported by the broad shoulders of narrative-driven songwriting that feels urgent, tactile, and resonant.
