Indie Artist & Producer Hayden Calnin Shares Lush New Track & D.I.Y Video       

Australian singer-songwriter and producer Hayden Calnin shared the second single, “We Can Take Our Time,” from his forthcoming EP, Soon Forever, out September 4th, 2020 via Nettwerk. The song is accompanied by an official D.I.Y video that was completed under quarantine, filmed and edited by Hayden himself and stars his younger sister Daisy Calnin dancing in the dawn light to the lush sonic landscape. Hayden explains, “We wanted to capture the feeling of first light and a new day beginning. We got up in the early hours and headed down to my favourite local spot to capture Daisy’s movement. There’s only really one moment to capture the right light, and we were lucky to be treated with such a beautiful sunrise. My sister Daisy and I have been collaborating with dance and music for a long time and it was so nice to capture a moment of that on film.”

When describing the inspiration behind the track, Hayden says, “Trying to pick something up where you once left it can be a challenge. People grow and their ideals change as time passes. ‘We Can Take Our Time’ is really about navigating your way through that with someone, and learning how to love someone again when you feel like you’ve been away from each other for such a long time. Learning new trust, learning new feelings, learning distance and rediscovering your closeness with someone. This song is an expression of that in my own life with someone I love a lot.” The song follows initial single, “Unfortunate Love,” which features longtime friend, collaborator and roommate, Harrison Storm. 

Settling into the small coastal town of Shoreham (two hours south of Melbourne) after living in the city, Calnin embraced the carefree ease of the new world around him. Living a stone’s throw from the beach, he is now outdoors every day either running or skimboarding and absorbing the natural beauty. With nature as his inspiration, he crafted the soundscape for Soon Forever from an upright and grand piano and off-kilter synths to create immersive textures to mimic his lush surroundings.

While establishing himself as a sought-after producer, he released a trio of EPS and a two-LP series—Cut Love, Pt.  1 and Cut Love, Pt.  2— that endeared him to his growing international fan base. 2019’s A  Life  You  Would  Choose EP  elevated  him  to  further critical acclaim from Earmilk, CLASH, Magnetic Magazine, Atwood and more. Not to mention, the lead single “Warm With You” gathered 1.7 million streams to date, bringing his total stream tally past the 30-million mark by 2020. No stranger to touring, he has shared the stage with Matt Corby, Tom Odell, The Antlers and more. During this time, he also produced records for buzzing Aussies like Didirri, the aforementioned Harrison Storm, Riley Pearce, Woodlock, NYCK, and others. Expanding his influence, Hayden’s catalog can be heard in popular television shows such as Suits, The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, The 100, and So You Think  You  Can  Dance USA  as  well  as  the  UK  trailer  for  Academy® Award-nominated favorite Room.
