HAZLETT CLIMBS INTO NEW ERA WITH “MOUNTAIN OF A MEMORY” LAST NIGHT YOU SAID YOU MISSED ME LP OUT SEPTEMBER 12 VIA NETTWERK
June 27, 2025 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
Today, Sweden-based, Australian indie-folk singer Hazlett returns with “mountain of a memory,” a haunting meditation on the ache of unfinished goodbyes and the silent weight of love left behind. It’s another intimate preview into Hazlett’s full-length album, last night you said you missed me, out September 12 via Nettwerk.
With ghostlike repetition and sparse, aching lines—“Call it off / Be alone / I’m the ghost that never made it home”—the track floats in the lonely stillness of emotional aftermath, a place where memory lingers long after connection fades. Anchored by warm acoustics and Hazlett’s signature introspective delivery, “mountain of a memory” captures the feeling of being someone’s fleeting thought—“I’m the feeling you won’t think about someday”—even as the narrator wrestles with the immovable presence of the past. There’s resignation in the silence, but also a fragile dignity in letting go.
Speaking about the single, Hazlett shares:
“Sometimes the best advice we have for people is that we never listen to ourselves. I think letting a worry wander in your head is a recipe for trouble. The smallest of thoughts can become bigger without you even noticing. So my advice has been to say them out loud. Whether that’s to somebody or even yourself in a mirror, some things just need an outlet. The idea being once it’s out of your head and in the open it’s already lost a little power and you can see it for what it is. This song was that mirror and me trying to take my own advice for a change.”
Blending introspection with cinematic melodies, Hazlett is a master of crafting songs that connect on a deeply human level. His critically acclaimed debut album 2023’s Bloom Mountain established him as an artist to watch, and his forthcoming effort, last night you said you missed me, shall further solidify his place as one of today’s most compelling storytellers. Earlier 2025 singles, “tell me something,” “doing my best” and “blue jean,” offered a glimpse into Hazlett’s evolving artistry and emotional depth that continues to impress with each release.
Regarding his forthcoming album, last night you said you missed me, Hazlett divulges:
“It’s a little different, which I know is cliche to say, but it’s true. I think it would be easier to say after all these years that I’ve found my sound and that’s where I’ll stay. But I think there’s a lack of authenticity in staying the same. When I started this whole thing I wanted anyone who starts to listen to feel like they’re part of this whole thing with me. Growing, trying and finding pieces of ourselves along the way.”
Following his stellar performances at Bottlerock and Outside Festival this past spring, Hazlett will be seen next supporting Noah Kahan at London’s BST Hyde Park on July 4th. Along with upcoming US festivals at Bourbon and Beyond (Louisville, KY), Iron Blossom Music Festival (Richmond, VA), All Things Go (Columbia, MD), and four amphitheater dates supporting Vance Joy, Hazlett will embark on his second 2025 North American headline tour, kicking off September 8 in Montreal, QC, and concluding October 30 in Dallas, TX. Performing with a full band, the 23-date tour will make stops in Chicago, Nashville, Boston, NYC, Los Angeles, Austin, and more. You can purchase tickets at https://www.thisishazlett.com/tour.
