Halie Loren To Host PBS Series; Shares Official Music Video Featuring SYTYCD Finalist Kylee Millis
May 30, 2019 BY Nettwerk
Alaskan-born, Oregon-based Halie Loren shares the music video for “Noah” from her album From The Wild Sky, released via Justin Time and Nettwerk. The video features So You Think You Can Dance (Top 5, Season 14) breakout star and finalist Kaylee “Impavido” Millis traveling through urban and rural decaying landscapes, grappling with loss and angst, but with a bittersweet sense of gratitude and humility.
“I was really excited to collaborate with Kaylee, as I knew she’d bring a physical interpretation to the story that would be compelling. Seeing her in action, it was extremely clear to see why she was a top finalist on “So You Think You Can Dance”… she’s an inspired and inspiring dancer, full of creativity, grace, and moxey to spare,” says Halie.
Written and directed by student filmmaker Thang Ho, the video has been nominated by the Student Production Awards, as presented by The National Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Southeast Chapter, for Best Music Video and Best Editor. NATAS Student Production Awards recognizes outstanding achievement in video production by showcasing work created by college students in news, craft and programming categories.
“I met Thang on a transatlantic flight… I was returning from concert tour dates in Italy, and Thang was traveling with friends, but, as the camera bag he carried made evident, his trip also had creative aims. We struck up what turned into a 6-hour conversation about art and travel, and stayed in touch via social media for the three years between that flight and the conversation that became music-video-creation plans,” says Halie.
In addition to enlisting the talents of young artists and performers, Halie will also host the music series “Paradise Music Hour,” an hour-long, music-based TV series highlighting emerging musicians at a variety of venues in Paradise, California. While much of Paradise was destroyed by last year’s Camp Fire, California’s deadliest and most destructive wildfire, several treasured venues remain, while others are in the process of rebuilding. In celebration of the community’s resilience and spirit, the series will utilize both the traditional venues that survived, but also new and interesting locations in and around Paradise. Picked up by PBS, the show will now be syndicated across various west coast affiliates, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Mateo and more. Loren’s songwriting flows between pop, blues, soul and contemporary compositions that are universal, yet deeply personal. Produced in London and Brooklyn by Troy Miller (Jamie Cullum, Gregory Porter, Amy Winehouse), From the Wild Sky is the follow-up release to her previous 2 titles hitting #1 on Billboard Japan’s Jazz Chart and #1 on Canada’s iTunes chart. Featuring 10 new original compositions penned by Loren and one stunning rendition of “A Mi Manera“, From the Wild Sky pushes Loren’s trademark rich vocals into welcome new territory. Halie will be performing songs from the album with a series of west coast shows, starting June 1 at Hult Center in Eugene, OR. Full dates below.
