goosetaf shares ‘Prisms’ EP with bouji bud

August 18, 2022 BY Bailey Vigliaturo

Seattle-based producer goosetaf and new talent bouji bud released the Prisms EP today via Nettwerk. The five-track EP further cements the 19-year-old as an artist to watch in the lo-fi space.

Prisms contains four previously released singles as well as the new track Questions 2 U.” goosetaf and bouji bud fill the 11-minute EP with subtle nuances, making each track its own celestial adventure. Be sure to listen for the skittering drums on “Attraction” and the gentle acoustic guitar chord changes on “Anticipate.”

The EP as a whole provides a range in energies and emotions,” reflects goosetaf. “Filled with numerous different synths and two guitars, there is plenty of variety throughout the EP. I like to push beyond the standard ‘lofi’ beat, and this project shows you can be innovative while still capturing a simple and chill mood.”

Prisms is the first project goosetaf has released with Nettwerk. The wordless EP is his second project in a year that also saw him collaborate with a slew of prominent rappers on his Left in the Labyrinth project. The April project includes tracks with Nyck Caution (of Pro Era), Erick the Architect (of Flatbush Zombies), and Smoke DZA.

goosetaf has teamed up with the Nowhere Metaverse to host an interactive virtual listening party. Fans can experience Prisms in a whole new way alongside the artist. The free event runs from 5-6 p.m. Pacific, and guests can RSVP by following goosetaf on Spotify.

goosetaf’s thoughtfully curated catalog has earned nearly 300 million streams and tens of thousands of fans both at retail and social platforms. goosetaf deftly incorporates traditional instrumentation (electric and acoustic guitars, keys, drums) alongside carefully embedded beats to create a soundscape that is undoubtedly experimental in its slow-paced, inconspicuous design. Drawing inspiration from artists like Flying Lotus, Madlib, Kiefer, and Yoko Kanno, goosetaf’s prolific and wordless discography mixes old-school hip-hop with his modern beat palette to create something entirely his own.
