Good Old War have shared a new song called “Misty-eyed” from their upcoming EP Part Of Us (December 7), concluding a three part EP series that also includes the former Part of Me and Part of You. The track premiered via Substream, who said, “The painstakingly heartfelt lyrics are there, beautifully sung and even harmonized over an acoustic guitar picking masterfully, creating a soothing yet addicting atmosphere.”
Singer Keith Goodwin said of the track, “This song is about being in a meaningful place from the past. The melody came to me one day when I was driving around the town I grew up in. I couldn’t put my finger on the feeling, it was neither nostalgia or Déjà vu. It’s a strange feeling when your memories of a place or event make you feel differently than when the event itself was taking place. I started singing whatever words came to mind right there in the car and by the time I got home the song was close to being done. It’s funny the way songs hit you sometimes. It’s like they just happen to you.”
The powerhouse live band spent the summer touring with longtime collaborator Anthony Green, playing their acclaimed debut album, Only Way To Be Alone, in its entirety. ir headline fall tour in support of Part Of Us launched last week and sees the band on the road for October and December. In October, the band is supported by ethereal folk duo Beta Radio and Danny Black, the latter a side project from Good Old War guitarist Dan Schwartz. In December, they are again supported by Beta Radio, along with buzzing UK artist Allman Brown.
