Global Ambient Musicians Come Together for L.A. Fire Charity Initiative

February 7, 2025 BY Emma Orland

Today, Nettwerk is excited to partner with Hollie Kenniff to release For L.A. Vol. 1 & 2, a global ambient 55-track compilation of musicians coming together to help Los Angeles after the devastating fires that struck the city in early January. Curated by Hollie Kenniff and mastered by her husband, Keith Kenniff (aka Goldmund and Helios), where all proceeds will go to LA fire relief efforts. For L.A. Vol. 1 & 2 features previously unreleased material from composers in the ambient, electronic, and modern classical communities. All proceeds from this release will support “We Are Moving The Needle” and “Give Directly,” empowering frontline organizations dedicated to relief and recovery for families affected by the LA fires. Our thoughts and love are with everyone in the LA community during this challenging time.

When we say global, we mean global. This two-volume compilation features artists from fifteen countries all over the world: from Iran to Japan, Poland to New Zealand, China to Greece, Australia to Canada, where Nettwerk’s headquarters is located and seven of the featured artists are from. Many local LA acts have also submitted to this compilation, including Nettwerk’s own The Album Leaf and artists like Baths and B9.

Nettwerk is thrilled to have both volumes available on DSPs, with all proceeds going toward two great causes. Along with being made available on all streaming platforms, today also marks the first Bandcamp Friday of the year, where both volumes live, and Bandcamp’s portions of proceeds go toward MusiCares.

As Bandcamp exclusives, the second volume features three tracks from the late great ambient composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, who passed away in 2023 and who was friends with Hollie and Keith Kenniff. Ryuichi has an Academy Award, a BAFTA, a Grammy, and two Golden Globes. One of the songs included on Bandcamp is a field recording from LA in 2015; the other is a live recording from LA’s ACE Hotel in 2019, his last show in the United States.

For L.A. Volume 1 is available on all streaming and digital platforms here.

For L.A. Volume 2  is available on all streaming and digital platforms here.
