Garrett Kato Shares Latest Single “Firestarter” Co-Written with Ainslie Wills

Today, singer, songwriter and producer Garrett Kato shares his latest single “Firestarter,” which was co-written with Australian singer-songwriter Ainslie Wills. He says, “We wrote it over two days with a certain old-time nostalgia in mind for the chords and melodies. The idea behind the song was to create a sense of longing for human connection which was something the world needed in the time of lockdown. The lyrics seemed to fall out so easily.” The track is available at digital retailers HERE.

The Canada-born, Australia-based artist kicked off the new year with previous single “Be,” which was written, produced and mixed by Garrett at his home studio in Byron Bay at a time when the world had just begun to feel the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Listen HERE.

Garrett released his sophomore album hemispheres at the end of 2020 featuring stand-out track “All Good,” which has been streamed almost 3 million times. He is also a platinum award winning producer, working with a string of Aussie indie-folk icons including Ziggy Alberts, Julia Stone, Kyle Lionheart, Riley Pearce, Pierce Brothers and Pete Murray.

Born in Canada, Byron Bay local Garrett Kato moved to Australia after spontaneously quitting his day job to pursue his passion for music. After busking and performing five gigs a week, Garrett is now having his songs synced with box office hits in the US, touring internationally, all the while running his own recording studio.
