Garrett Kato Shares “Breathe It In” (Feat Julia Stone) + EP Announcement

Canadian-born, Australia-based singer-songwriter Garrett Kato shares new single “Breathe It In,” featuring Aussie folk icon Julia Stone. The track is off the forthcoming s. hemisphere EP (releasing on March 6, 2020 via Nettwerk) and was co-written with Julia Stone and self-produced by Garrett Kato in his home studio in Byron Bay.
“This song is about meeting someone when you’re messed up,” says Garrett Kato. “Julia and I were total strangers the first day of writing, so we spent a lot of time getting to know each other. We both were in what seemed like transitional periods of our lives. Me being a new father and her balancing some normality with an ever-changing life on the road. The song was born out of some old and new stories we’d been harbouring for some time and they came to life in this song.”

Garrett Kato had a huge 2019 with the release of his Distant Land EP, followed by hit singles “Holding on to You” and “Control.” He played sold out shows with folk singer-songwriter Damien Rice, completed his first co-headline tour of Europe & the UK with Riley Pearce and toured North America with household name Ziggy Alberts. When he isn’t on the road, Garrett spends his time at his home studio producing for artists such as Kyle Lionheart, Riley Pearce, Pete Murray, Pierce Brothers and Ziggy Alberts.
Born in Canada, Garrett Kato moved to Byron Bay (Australia) in 2010 after spontaneously quitting his day job to pursue his passion for music. After busking and performing five gigs a week, Garrett is now having his songs synced with box office hits in the US, touring internationally, all the while running his own recording studio; producing for a string of Australian indie folk acts. With over 20 million worldwide streams on Spotify to date, Garrett is looking ahead to a busy year of tour and releasing a stunning collection of brand new music.
