Flyte teams up with Aimee Mann on new track “Alabaster”

Today, beloved UK band Flyte teams up with the legendary, GRAMMY®-winning singer-songwriter Aimee Mann on their new single, “Alabaster.” The song serves as an emotional centerpiece to their forthcoming full-length album, Between You and Me. Weaving Flyte’s intimate storytelling with Mann’s signature indie rock-laced Americana vocals, “Alabaster” unfolds as a poignant and harmonically rich duet. On “Alabaster,” Flyte’s Will Taylor says, “We began writing Alabaster with Miya Folick in Los Angeles about a fantasy affair in the midst of an apocalypse. We finished it on the road and back home in London. It’s easy to feel like we’re in the midst of the end times already, so it was effective inspiration and encouraged the raging fuzz guitar sound to lead the way musically. We wanted it to sound like the song was burning down.”

“When we came to record it, we felt it needed to be a dialogue between two singers, much like with Laura Marling on the song Tough Love from our previous record. Aimee Mann is an artist we grew up listening to and is a true L.A. legend, so it made perfect sense. It was a surreal honour hearing the voice of Magnolia, one of our favourite films, ripping through a Flyte track,” he adds.

The new single joins previously released tracks “I’m So Down,” “Hurt People,” “Emily and Me,” and “I’m Not There,” which will appear on the new record, due out on August 29th via Nettwerk.  

Flyte is also excited to bring their new music on the road to North America, the UK, and Europe! They’ll kick things off on September 10th  at Concorde 2 in Brighton and conclude at the O2 Kentish Town Forum in London on September 26th. From there, Will and Nick will make a grand return to North America, playing their largest venues in the territory to date. From there, they will return to Europe, with routing through Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, and France.
