“NAVA are a new music project who are exploring the very peripheries of what it means to make a pop song.” – The Line of Best Fit

“Experts in sound design, NAVA push these ideas into new single ‘Flesh,’ a visceral return that contains a bruising use of sonics.” – Clash

The mysterious and enigmatic Milanese band NAVA return with an exhilarating, high-octane new song “Flesh.” It’s a dark tale of the constant struggles between the heart and the brain, featuring industrial sounds and wild shape-shifting electronic productions whilst all held together by singer Nava Golchini’s slithering vocals and sharp lyricism.

“The song reflects the struggles between the heart and mind, alternating the cruel industrial sound with the dreamy harmonies,” NAVA explained to Clash. “Flesh was one of the initial songs that we have ever created together. It came to Nava (Golchini) as an image. She was reading some stories about abortion, and many women change their minds as soon they hear the heartbeat, which is one of the first organs that develops.”

NAVA formed in Milan in 2016. Originally from Iran, singer Nava Golchini met producer & arranger Francesco Fugazza whilst studying music in Italy. The collaboration then expanded to include drummers Elia Pastori and Marco Fugazza. Talking cues from Italy’s current flourishing electronic music scene and international acts like Arca, Apparat, Purity Ring, etc, NAVA are a real cultural blender, melding Golchini’s own Persian musical background and the band’s experimental arrangements, into something truly cosmopolitan and visceral. Their debut songs “Ritual” and “Navigate,” released originally on Italian indie label Factory Flaws, garnered attention from The Line of Best Fit, Rolling Stone Italy, Earmilk, Red Bull and more.

The quartet are currently working on their debut EP, to be released with Nettwerk Music Group sometime in 2019.
