Cub Sport Premiere “I’m On Fire,” Debut Album Out March 4th

February 5, 2016 BY Nettwerk

Cub Sport premiered “I’m On Fire” off their upcoming debut album, This Is Our Vice (March 4th) via The Wild Honey Pie yesterday. The track is based on a true story about a spurned lover who set herself on fire in retaliation for being dumped. “You’re convinced that I’m not strong, but I am here to show you that’s not right,” he sings. “’Cause I’m not lit, but I’m alight.” The ex-girlfriend made it out okay, thus the lilting chorus…because everyone loves a happy ending? Songwriter Tim Nelson concedes, “It’s pretty fucked up.”

ABOUT CUB SPORT:
Cub Sport – Tim Nelson (lead vocals), Zoe Davis (guitar), Dan Puusaari (drums) and Sam Netterfield (keyboard) – first caught attention Stateside with their Told You So EP (2012). The blissed-out, anthemic title track vaulted into the top 20 of the CMJ college-radio chart, and the band spent the following year impressing at various seminal festivals around the world, including Brighton’s The Great Escape, Liverpool Sound City, Music Matters Singapore and multiple packed rooms during NYC’s CMJ Music Marathon. Their upcoming full-length debut, This Is Our Vice (March 4th), is an album filled mercurial topics such as self-doubt and self-immolation that are crafted into an expanse of shimmering harmonies and sticky melodies. The record follows the October release of the Only Friend EP.
