Cloudchord and Big Gigantic share impressive and radiant new collaborative single, “Keep On Movin”
March 3, 2023 BY Jason Currell
Derek VanScoten’s project Cloudchord shows no signs of slowing down. His glimmering new single “Keep On Movin,” out today, is an impressive collaboration with Big Gigantic. The track is a sonic burst of illuminated energy showcasing the duo’s ability to combine trippy oscillating guitar melodies with Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic’s trademark saxophone stylings. “Keep On Movin” is the final single from his new record, Bloom Bap, out on March 24. This new body of music is a combination of lush, warm signature guitar licks wrapped around textures of rolling grooves and dense thickets of melody. With this, we see Cloudchord crystallizing his exciting voice in the soundful electronic landscape. Bloom Bap, also features his latest singles “Doorbell Luv (ft. Koresma),” “Dreamer (ft. Dominic Lalli),” “Boi Next Door,” “Music Is Medicine,” and “Junior High Dance (ft. Emancipator).” “Keep On Movin” is available at all digital retailer links here.
Derek shares, “My favorite thing about this song is how Big Gigantic met me halfway, stylistically speaking. They tend to thrive in EDM environments, and my success has been in Chillhop and Lofi. They say it can be done, but “Keep on Movin” is an absolute hybrid of Lofi and EDM/ House.”

ABOUT CLOUDCHORD:
Derek grew up coveting guitar gods like Jimi Hendrix. The game changed when his Dad took him to see George Benson, and his Mom paid for jazz guitar lessons. His college years saw him learning about high-level recording studios; a summer spent as an audio engineer intern at the Aspen Music Institute ignited his reverence for acoustic music. His inspirations grew to include jazz pianist and life mentor Art Lande, and hip hop acts like Jurassic 5 and The Roots. After several years as a Brooklyn-based touring act called D.V.S*, Derek moved to Austin and rebranded. The creative focus was on the chill sides of dance music (from chillhop to deep house) while featuring live guitar and lap steel. In his first year as Cloudchord, he scored 6 consecutive #1 tracks on Hype Machine. Shortly after, a call came to score the documentary In Football We Trust. The work premiered at Sundance and won an Emmy. Other scoring clients have grown to include Disney, Gatorade, Facebook & L’Oreal.
ABOUT BIG GIGANTIC:
Big Gigantic are veterans of blending electronic dance music with their live instruments to create Big G’s truly unique sound; a sound that is as thoughtful as it is danceable. They draw light out of an inimitable mélange of impressive instrumentation, cinematic production, propulsive percussion, and, of course, triumphant saxophone. The genre-bending Denver, CO pair—Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken—uplift with every subsequent album and show, mixing musically mature melodies with addictive beats and samples that crosses all styles of music from jazz to hip hop, funk to dubstep.
