Chicago Creative Wic Whitney Releases New EP ‘Afternoon Tea’

January 12, 2024 BY Emma Orland

Today, Arkansas-bred, Chicago-based artist Wic Whitney releases his new EP Afternoon Tea, where he explores the different types of love and relationships that humans encounter within themselves, each other, and the world around them via his signature blend of southern soul, smooth rhythm, and quick-witted, introspective storytelling. Listen HERE.

Wic introduced the EP with the single “Matcha,” an effervescent reflection on his first gay relationship, which lit up social media and grew his already impressive social media following to nearly 500,000. He followed it with “Oolong,” a laidback take on how to thrive in a constant stage of existential dread, and “Sun,” a nostalgic look at the love between long distance friends.

Of the EP’s tea theme, Wic says, “The EP title is symbolic of taking everything one cup at a time. Every cup is different, but just as enjoyable.”
