Bre Kennedy, Nashville Singer-Songwriter, returns with “Twenty Something (All or Nothing)”

June 23, 2022 BY Jason Currell

Fresh after a nearly sold-out tour with Joy Oladokun and a debut Bonnaroo performance, the Nashville-based singer and songwriter Bre Kennedy returns with her charmingly nostalgic latest single “Twenty Something (All or Nothing),” along with an accompanying video, available everywhere tomorrow here. Excited to play all the new songs on the road, Bre will be supporting Rag’N’Bone Man and releasing new music this fall. The tour starts in Minneapolis with an appearance at the renowned First Avenue and continues through BostonBrooklyn, and Los Angeles, ultimately finishing in Vancouver.

On “Twenty Something (All or Nothing)”, Kennedy says, “I wanted to give another life to my song ‘Twenty Something’ and create a version that celebrated the mess & the beauty of my twenties. I released the original acoustic version January 2020 & didn’t get to fully celebrate it or bring it to life on tour due to Covid and so this is a way to honor that song & EP now that I get perform live again. I am about to go into a season of releasing new music and wanted to start it off with this war cry & summer song. The video was filmed in my old neighborhood in Los Angeles where I crashed my car & learned who I was upon arriving to Nashville. I am so thankful for the lessons I’ve learned in my twenties … even the messy ones. I hope this finds anyone who needs to hear so they can dance a hard day in their twenties away.”

Bre Kennedy creates music soaked in rich, timeless storytelling with innate pop sensibilities. She grew up in a musical household, taking in the greats like Tom Petty, Heart, Aretha Franklin, and Carole King. After a brief stint in LA, she hopped in her Nissan and headed to Nashville where she discovered her true musical identity. She self-released her Jealous of Birds EP in 2019, followed by 2020’s Twenty Something EP, and her 2021debut album, Note To Self, all of which appeared on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist and the latter of which saw Kennedy grace the cover of the Today’s Singer-Songwriters. In the past couple of years, Kennedy has sold-out Nashville’s historic Exit In and has supported such renowned artists as Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr., and Birdtalker. At the end of 2021, Kennedy signed to Nettwerk and is currently working on new music.
