Bre Kennedy Embraces Life’s Unpredictable Journey on New Single “Navigating”; Announces New EP
May 12, 2023 BY Jason Currell
Today, singer, songwriter, and producer Bre Kennedy announces Scream Over Everything (Side A) will be released on July 28th via Nettwerk. The California-bred, Nashville-based artist discloses her innermost thoughts, fears and dreams with a novelist’s attention-to-detail and this 4-song EP, which is the first half of a larger body of music coming later this year.
Bre says, “It’s called Scream Over Everything because I wrote these songs about screaming over all of the noise around me, whether it’s social media, the chaos of the world, or the stories I’ve been telling myself.”
She shares this news with her new single “Navigating,” a propulsive and cathartic look at embracing life’s unpredictable journey. She shares, “It started after I had a conversation with my little brother about how heavy life can feel, because he was going through a rough time. He was asking me all of these questions about life and how I do it. I just had to say we’re all navigating. Every day is a winding road of making choices to show up as best as we can, learning how to steer through the impossibly hard moments, and how to have patience for ourselves and everyone else.”
In addition, Bre is in the midst of a very special May residency in Nashville at The Bowery Vault. Each Thursday night, she sings old favorites and debuts new songs as she welcomes different handpicked guests, including Michael Conley, Lydia Luce, Katie Pruitt, Brittney Spencer and more. All information can be found here.

“Navigating” and the previously released single, “Retrospect” come months after Bre’s December 2022 EP, Clarity, a collection of four vulnerable, intimate, and heartfelt tracks that represented a sonic reflection of her personal metamorphosis over the past year, leading her to a clearer and more hopeful perspective. Clarity was initially teased with the inviting anthem “Ribbon” and the cinematic “Before I Have A Daughter,” which was co-written with Lori McKenna.

ABOUT BRE KENNEDY:
After grabbing an acoustic guitar at 12-years-old, Bre Kennedy found herself performing throughout Los Angeles and then relocating to Nashville, where she built a buzz with show stopping live performances around town. She began independently sharing her music, including her Jealous of Birds EP [2019], Twenty Something EP [2020], and Note to Self [2021], before signing to Nettwerk in 2022 and releasing her Clarity EP. Consequence of Sound hailed Kennedy’s work as “contemplative and vulnerable,” and Guitar Magazine exclaimed, “Bre Kennedy is bound to be a household name for all the right reasons.” Beyond headlining sold out shows, Bre has performed alongside Sheryl Crow and Gary Clark, JR., joined Joy Oladokun and Paper Kites on their 2022 headline tours, and made her Bonnaroo debut. As she drove over 10,000 miles over the course of 2022, she reached a personal inflection point on the road and began writing her new album. Collating her experiences in the studio, she collaborated with producer Davis Naish and cowriters Morgan Nagler, Mikey Reese, and Emily Hackett.
