BOY BLEACH RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘IF YOU WANT TO’;  ‘THE BEAUTIFUL BLUE’ EP – OUT NOV 22ND

October 18, 2024 BY Bailey Vigliaturo

East London’s Boy Bleach has today released their new single ‘If You Want To’ – a response to the harsh and unrelenting attacks on queer communities in the US and UK – listen here. The track is out now via Nettwerk and comes ahead of their new EP The Beautiful Blue, which is released 22nd November.

As drag bans, book censorship, and regressive policies made headlines, the band transformed their outrage into an anthem of defiance and hope. This track challenges hate and champions love, standing firm against the divisive rhetoric and policies of the time.

Talking about the new single, the band say “We were saddened & frustrated by everything going on and ‘If You Want To’ was our way of saying ‘fuck that’ to anyone that needed to hear it. We know nothing is as simple as we’d all like it to be, but love should be – and we were writing this song about acceptance and the power of believing in love and, more importantly, fighting for it; but everywhere we looked all this shit was kicking off constantly, so it just catalysed a more specific direction in the track. There will always be pricks that will stand for hate and bitterness but they will never diminish those who love authentically with all of their conviction. At the end of the day that’s all we’ve got.”

Boy Bleach are an East London born-and-raised alternative group made up of two sets of brothers (Lou & Jimi / James & Nick) and best friend JJ.  A musically eclectic group of council boys, a Portuguese immigrant and cockney-blooded Welsh lads.  Talented musicians in their own right, their Brit-icised alt-rock/punk sound is as diverse as their musical heroes – everything from Depeche Mode, Garbage, Blur, The Clash and Pistols to Kano and Gorillaz.
