Billy Raffoul Pays a Tribute to his Mom w/ “The Woman Who Raised Me”
May 9, 2025 BY Emma Orland
Billy Raffoul, the Toronto soulful singer, songwriter, and producer, pays homage to his mom with a brand new single called “The Woman Who Raised Me.” By recounting childhood memories with proper reverence, Billy graciously marvels at her impact, “When you’re gone, you will never leave,” saying, “For as long as I’m here, you’ll be the woman who raised me.” “The Woman Who Raised Me” is the companion track to Billy’s 2023 single, “My Old Man,” a track dedicated to his father, Jody Raffoul, from whom Billy absorbed a lifelong passion for music.
“This one is directly for my mother. I just wanted a tribute for her. It has a bunch of snapshots of memories from growing up. I wanted to give this to her now. She loves the song, which is all that matters.”

“The Woman Who Raised Me” is one of the singles on Billy’s upcoming self-titled record, Billy Raffoul, which will be released July 18, 2025, via Nettwerk. Expertly marrying his heartfelt vocals with intricate guitar work, Billy Raffoul is making his closest connection with this new collection of songs. Telling universal stories soundtracked by unshakable melodies, Billy Raffoul strikes an intimate chord, tapping into the feelings and experiences we all share no matter where we call home. Concluding 2023, Billy canvased South Africa on tour. The experience affirmed the boundary-breaking power of music. Upon his return, he initially penned ideas at home before decamping to Los Angeles, where he worked with producer Davis Naish.
Billy shares, “This is a very intentional record. I went on tour to South Africa last year, and it was amazing to see how some love songs resonated with people on the other side of the world. Afterward, I thought, ‘I want to make an album full of these songs that have resonated with people on the other side of the world.’ Musically, I wanted to explore more of the planet. I’ve showcased every part of myself in each song.”
