BAY LEDGES Jumps In To Clean The LA River For Earth Day in Official Video For New Single “In Water”

April 22, 2022 BY Jason Currell

Today, indie electro-pop artist Bay Ledges shares his latest single, “In Water,” along with an inspiring earth day activation-themed music video. The video features an anti-litter fairy visiting Bay Ledges’ Zach Hurd and teaching him a lesson after he carelessly tosses a bag of chips into the LA River. Hurd adds, “As we shot the video we simultaneously did our own little LA River clean up. I always knew the river was polluted but I’d never really been down in it. It felt good working on something that was fun and light-hearted but also had a bit more meaning behind it. I can get preoccupied in my own little world and tune out the ways I can help the environment. *Stay away from those single-use plastics.”

The track is off Bay Ledges’ upcoming debut album Ritual and will be released on May 27th. Written, produced, and mixed entirely by Hurd, the album explores transience, nostalgia, and his own meditative relationship to music and art.

Bay Ledges’ headline Ritual Tour in June is now on sale. The tour follows his sold-out February headlining dates that included stops like Mercury Lounge in NYC and Globe Hall in Denver and a stint on the West Coast opening for Magic City Hippies. The June tour will include stops at iconic venues like The Troubadour in Los Angeles, Cat’s Cradle in Chapel Hill, NC, and the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. A complete list is below.

Zach Hurd started Bay Ledges in his bedroom after moving to Los Angeles from a small town in coastal Maine in 2015. It began as an attempt to make fun, creative sounds with no expectation. Chopped-up guitar lines, playful beats, and manipulated vocals made for soulful, glitchy songs with a feeling of nostalgia. The project took off when Hurd’s 2016 single, “Safe,” jumped to number three on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart. He has toured all over the US and Canada, sharing the stage with such acts as Yoke Lore and The Palms.
