Avant-garde Pop Artist Kill J Shares Video For “Gravity”

August 4, 2017 BY Nettwerk

“Denmark’s Kill J has been one of our favorite pop artists for a couple of years now, and with every new move it feels like she’s sharpening her knife. There’s something severe about Kill J’s approach to music, whether sonically, lyrically, or visually, and “Gravity” is no exception…meticulously crafted song with sleek production and gorgeous melodies…” – Pigeons & Planes

Avant-garde pop artist Kill J premiered the clip for her latest single, “Gravity,” on Pigeons & Planes yesterday. The track was co-produced with Nector and recently premiered on The Line of Best Fit who said…

“The chorus swells in classic ballad fashion, once again confirming that Kill J has a voice that’s often unmatched in modern pop music.”

When asked about the video by Pigeons & Planes, Kill J said, “The video is supposed to illustrate the theme of the song, which is when in a crisis, you can find calm and centeredness in the laws of nature in the same way we do in religion. Gravity is a prayer. Experiencing the wait of your body being drawn down or into another larger body (in our case, the earth) is a peaceful comfort – a relief from anxiety. Because no one and nothing is alone. Everything is constantly being pulled, pushed or drawn towards other bodies. The forces of the universe makes sure it. The light drawings in the video are supposed to illustrate the many similarities between religion and science. The symmetry in religious ornamentation is not so different from the scientific formulas and illustrations we find in science. And in a way, for me, they often tell the same story. I am not religious in a traditional sense. But I have faith. I believe, that science will save us all in the end and deliver us from evil and heartache.”

An artist who always pushes the boundaries of pop music conventions, combining the sweet with the ugly, Kill J is currently putting the finishing touches to her highly anticipated debut studio album for Nettwerk Records.

Stay tuned for more new music, live dates and news.

What the press are saying about “Gravity”:

“…off-kilter, effervescent production hoists J’s vocals here, and her signature tones add even more character to the piece.” – HillyDilly

“Swimming in between weird pop sounds and electronic beats, we are overwhelmed by the extreme power of her voice, raging from fast singing to high-pitched vocalizations. In the track, two forces fight with each other: her sweet vocals against a dense production, creating the impression of gravity between two opposite energies that can’t seem to be apart.” – High Clouds

“Kill J’s icy, falsetto vocals melt with lush strings and leftfield synths.” – Indietronica

“…an intoxicating new song. Gravity is a careful, intricate pop song that sees her traverse minimal, clap-led beat. She’s come in leaps and bounds since her last release and is becoming a really exciting artist.” – The Interns
