Austria’s OSKA Shares “Hallucinating (It’s Normal To Shiver Version)”
May 6, 2022 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
Indie-pop singer/songwriter OSKA returns with “Hallucinating (It’s Normal To Shiver Version),” a live recording of the moving song from her acclaimed debut album, My World, My Love, Paris, which was released earlier this year. The Vienna-based artist loved the process of recording strings for the album version so much, that she invited those players back into the studio for a special live session. The song is available everywhere tomorrow; pre-save HERE.
“Hallucinating” is a very personal song to OSKA, who says, “Ten years ago I had an accident. A surfboard ‘surfed’ into my face, and I hallucinated, which was a cool experience I have to say, but it has also kind of haunted me for years and left me with a scar on my cheek. This song is about that experience, and about the fear of, at some point, becoming paranoid because of it.”

“The moving nature of the track and its emotional resonance feel only heightened in this setting, with the more natural atmosphere complimenting her powerful and emotive vocals seamlessly. This is an exciting new version of one of the most personal and affecting tracks by an artist who specializes in them.” — Clout
OSKA will be supporting her label-mate, collaborator, and friend Stu Larsen on his tour throughout Europe in May and will make her debut appearance at The Great Escape Festival with two sets on May 12 and 13. She’ll also join HAEVN as support in June. All dates are below.
Growing up in a small village in Lower Austria, OSKA moved to Vienna at 18 to study her first love; music. She started busking in streets and squares of the capital while also studying pop and jazz singing. She signed to Nettwerk in 2020 and released her debut EP Honeymoon Phase to critical acclaim. The five songs on the album have amassed more than 4 million Spotify streams and won her the XA Music Export Award at Waves Vienna Festival 2020, and most recently won the Amadeus Austrian Music Award for “Best Sound”. She followed the EP with her debut album, My World, My Love, Paris, comprised of 12 songs that see OSKA weave together tales of her family life and the experience of being a young person growing up in the world. With candor and charm, her authentic self comes through in honest lyricism and tender melodies.
