Australian trio San Cisco have shared the official remix of “Skin,” which sees the melancholic indie-pop single transform into a heartbreak banger by GUM (Tame Impala) & Ginoli (Pond).

Known for their distinct Detroit-House infused production style, GUM & Ginoli’s remix of “Skin” which was premiered via Happy Mag, highlights the pair’s unique ability to metamorph music,  harnessing the power of synth-driven arpeggios and a thumping bassline to amplify the themes of heartbreak and hopelessness expressed in the original, all whilst elevating the track with a darker, electronic take.

“We were so excited for GUM & Ginoli to come onboard and reimagine one of our songs.” San Cisco writes “We love this darker, electronic take on ’Skin’. The crusty old drum machines and synthesizers used on the track give it a moody and cinematic vibe which we dig.”

Ginoli, who goes by the name of James Ireland, is no stranger to collaborating with San Cisco. Their latest album Between You And Me saw the multi-instrumentalist lend his production and mixing talents on “Skin,” in addition to the record overall.

GUM & Ginoli write about the collaboration “Being good mates with San Cisco, we knew we had some common ground musically – things like French electronic music and Frank Ocean. Jordi’s voice worked surprisingly well with our style of production and it was one of the easiest and most enjoyable remixes we’ve worked on. The remix itself is a tale of two halves, a slow burn that builds, and we’re really stoked with the way it turned out.”
