Aussie Indie-Rockers LAST DINOSAURS Announce Fall Tour Dates with Bad Suns; Release New Song “Auto-Sabotage”

August 5, 2022 BY Jason Currell

“Self-sabotage. Everybody does it, everybody is puzzled by it,” he explains. “I wrote this song at a time when living through the pandemic in Mexico, the sheer surplus of time that I had firstly got me facing my demons and disciplining myself. But it’s as if the other things in life which generate difficulty or tension that require some sort of self-sabotage to deal with them. To dabble in the dark side of things even if they are mundane (alcohol, lust, addictive video games, gossip) is somewhat necessary to existence. We can’t be hyper controlled and all entirely pure, at least in most cases. But it is the fact that this self-sabotage is so prevalent in everybody, that it seems disproportionately high. Whether it was me, my own mind, my best friend in Mexico or anybody really, the sense of self-destruction at the time was infinitely infuriating. I don’t wish to make a song which simply makes it okay to destroy yourself and your goals, but rather to point it out a problem, to expose it as a sly and clandestine condition of the mind.”

Last Dinosaurs are also excited to announce new Fall tour dates starting with a return to Japan in September supporting Okamoto’s on a 4-night run. Then, the Dinos will make their way back to North America for a supporting tour with Bad Suns. See the full list of tour dates below and find more details at https://www.lastdinosaurs.com/home/.

After their impressive multi-day appearance at Lollapalooza that included a set on the Main Stage, an after-party performance with The Wombats, and an appearance in the Toyota Tent, Australian indie rockers Last Dinosaurs drop another energetic groove from their highly anticipated new album, From Mexico With Love. Glistening guitars and bouncing bass lines open the retro-sounding “Auto-Sabotage,” as Lachlan Caskey explores vices that lead us down the spiral of self-sabotaging behavior.

ABOUT LAST DINOSAURS:

Despite coming up in Australia, indie rock band, Last Dinosaurs would say they’re an international enterprise – and they’ve got a track record to prove it. Brothers Lachlan and Sean Caskey, along with Michael Sloane have played sold out headlining shows and festivals across UK, Europe, Southeast Asia, South Africa, and the Americas. The success of studio albums, In a Million Years, Wellness, and most recently, Yumeno Garden, have taken them around the world and back. Considering this, it’s even more interesting that their next studio album, From Mexico with Love, was written during a time when the world stood still. While living the international rock star life is good writing material, “the deep stuff comes from being alone,” remarks Lachlan.

When Australia closed their borders due to COVID, Lachlan found himself stuck in Canada before making his way to Mexico to work on the album in creative solitude. Sometimes magic comes from chaos as Lachlan found a wellspring of creativity and as soon as Australia opened, Lachlan took his raw material back home to the band to produce From Mexico with Love. The result is an electric testimony to the DIY tradition that investigates the places we go not just externally but internally. “Thankfully for us, Mexico was more than just a place to quarantine. It was an inspiration as complex as the album itself, a fact that’s honored in the album title and the song CDMX.”

Now, with From Mexico with Love, an album about exploring the world both around and within us, Last Dinosaurs are more than ready to pick up the momentum where they left off and share their new music with the world.
