Atlanta Dream Pop Band BATHE ALONE Share New Track “Call Me Back”; Confirmed for SXSW

December 15, 2023 BY Bailey Vigliaturo

Today, Atlanta dream pop artist Bathe Alone shares her haunting new single, “Call Me Back.” The track, which tackles the feeling of wanting to call someone who is no longer in your life, features real voicemails that folks have left twentysomething visionary Bailey Crone. She explains, “This was the first thing I wrote when my marriage officially ended. Naturally, I was starting to reflect on everything that had happened, and I was thinking about how long I had been with this person – literally half of my life. I started listening to these old voicemails on my phone – I was in a purging state, trying to clean up my life in the simple ways that I could. Hearing all these voice mails from people that I never called back made me think… Would I be one of these voicemails to him now? Would he even call me back? When I found the voicemails from my grandmother, it crushed me. This longing feeling of wishing someone would call you back – I realized she had those feelings with me. Those voicemails were from years ago. We were having a strangely parallel experience, and I thought that was an interesting emotion to explore in the song.”

“Call Me Back” follows the recent hazy atmospheric singles, “Gemini” and “Archive 81” and her double EP, Fall With The Lights Down (Velma) & (Louise), which came out on August 4th.

Bathe Alone is the moniker for multi-instrumentalist Bailey Crone, who works closely with producer Damon Moon (Curtis Harding, Lunar Vacation & more) at his iconic studio, Standard Electric. Growing up with a formal background in classical music, Crone first burrowed her way into the Peach State’s indie scene as a teenager. She picked up drums, guitar, and bass early on and sharpened her skills playing in various bands, including touring as the drummer for the buzzy Girlpuppy. Bathe Alone was founded on her skills as a drummer, with influences from punk to ambient guitar drenched in delay. Her 2023 Double EP, Fall With The Lights Down, is a sonic expression of nostalgic longing, with each part dedicated to one of Bailey’s great-grandmothers whom she never met and are pictured on the cover of their namesake EP. The double EP received praise from media outlets like Under The Radar, Flood, Luna Collective, Atwood Magazine, Flood, Ones to Watch, and notable fellow musicians like Sharon Van Etten. She has already opened for artists like Jadu Heart, Beabadoobee, and Neighbor Lady and the group just wrapped a North American tour supporting Vacations and Last Dinosaurs.

Stay tuned for more to come from Bathe Alone in 2024.
