Atlanta Dream Pop Artist BATHE ALONE Shares New Single “Gemini”; Announces Dates with Vacations + Last Dinosaurs
September 22, 2023 BY Bailey Vigliaturo
Today, Atlanta dream pop artist Bathe Alone shares her latest single, “Gemini.” Hushed and dripping with hazy atmospheric drums and guitar, the track is the first release since her double EP, Fall With The Lights Down (Velma) & (Louise), came out on August 4th.
Bathe Alone is the moniker for multi-instrumentalist Bailey Crone, who works closely with producer Damon Moon (Curtis Harding, Lunar Vacation & more) at his iconic studio, Standard Electric. The live video they filmed to accompany the single was also captured at the space, which is inside a remodeled church in Decatur, GA.
When asked about the meaning, she explains, “I’ve come to realize that this song has taken on a different meaning to me than what I intended when I wrote it. Originally, this song was about my own depression. But through several life events, more on that later, I’ve now realized it was about someone else’s depression the whole time. I had this chord progression that I thought made me feel really uneasy. I couldn’t describe why, but it sounded like the way depression feels to me. It just feels off.”

Last week, Bathe Alone announced they would join viral Australian band’s Vacations and Last Dinosaurs on half of their co-headline North American fall tour. They will join on October 21st in Orlando, FL, at The Beacham with stops in Austin, Denver, Portland, Seattle, and more before wrapping on November 12th at The Novo in Los Angeles, CA. A full list of dates can be found below.
Growing up with a formal background in classical music, Crone first burrowed her way into the Peach State’s indie scene as a teenager. She picked up drums, guitar, and bass early on and sharpened her skills playing in various bands, including touring as the drummer for the buzzy Girlpuppy. Bathe Alone was founded on her skills as a drummer, with influences from punk to ambient guitar drenched in delay. Her 2023 Double EP, Fall With The Lights Down, is a sonic expression of nostalgic longing, with each part dedicated to one of Bailey’s great-grandmothers whom she never met and are pictured on the cover of their namesake EP. The double EP received praise from media outlets like Under The Radar, Flood, Luna Collective, Atwood Magazine, Flood, Ones to Watch, and notable fellow musicians like Sharon Van Etten. She has already opened for artists like Jadu Heart, Beabadoobee and Neighbor Lady.
