Hailing from Gothenburg, Sarah Klang debuted in 2018 with Love In the Milky Way, which won Best Album at the Swedish Grammys, while 2019’s Creamy Blue earned further acclaim with Grammy nomination for Best Album and Best Alternative Pop, as well the European Album of the Year at the IMPALA Awards. While her sound had previously touched upon a mix of influences (‘60 and ‘70s pop, Americana, and an undercurrent of country), 2019’s VIRGO – another Swedish Grammy winning album – then broadened her scope to include elements of ‘80s synth-pop and ‘90s R&B. Tastemaker praise soon followed, notably from i-D, Rolling Stone and Clash. “Mercedes,” written with her regular collaborator and the track’s producer, Kevin Andersson, starts a new chapter in Sarah’s career, which will continue with further releases as 2023 progresses.
