Geowulf
Star Kendrick, also known as Geowulf, is indefatigable.
Her latest full-length album The Child came out in January 2025. By June, she had already released a brand-new single from her latest project, an EP titled Twinkly Depression, to drop, in full, on October 24, 2025.
Written while Star was touring the UK, Twinkly Depression is named for a state of melancholy that’s hidden behind a shimmering veil; in a recent post, Star describes it as ‘crying in a rave club’ and ‘when someone cares enough to knock on your door.’ The four dreamy tracks that make up Twinkly Depression each encapsulate this feeling in a slightly different way, like shining a light to a mirrorball and trying to count the refracted beams.
Arguably, EP closer “Top Down” encapsulates the vision of Twinkly Depression best of all. A glimmering speck of light in a period of darkness, it explores a time when Star was under an extreme amount of pressure. She describes a period of numbness, where none of her usual outlets felt comforting. “Top Down” was written at this time, but it wasn’t quite right until producer and collaborator Duncan Mills came on board. “He was like, ‘I’ve got an idea, we’re changing these chords to minor chords, we’re gonna do this,’” Star says. “And it just felt really good.”
As for the rest of 2025, Star plans to bring Geowulf across the world. After a successful tour of Australia, UK and Europe earlier this year, she now has new shows booked in China, France and the UK in the latter half of 2025. As Geowulf continues to produce music at an astonishing rate, her fans mirror her commitment across the globe.
