APRIL JUNEMADRID-BASED DREAM POP ARTIST SHARES NEW EP AFTERPARTY

October 27, 2025 BY Bailey Vigliaturo

Today, Madrid-based dream-pop artist april june has shared her new EP afterparty, via Nettwerk (Panchiko, Miya Folick). The project arrives as an immersive collection of nocturnal vignettes, exploring the fragile beauty that lingers in moments of heartbreak, surrender, and fleeting connection.

Built on glistening synth textures, reverb-soaked guitars, and soft-focus percussion, the album’s title-track, “afterparty,” feels like drifting through the last dance of the night — when the lights fade, but emotion still glows in the air. april june’s voice hovers with a weightless intimacy, carried by a mix that balances lush dream-pop atmosphere with raw vulnerability. The track’s warm stereo space and cinematic depth evoke artists such as The Marías and Lana Del Rey, while its ethereal tonal layering hints at Cocteau Twins-like elegance.

april june shares this on her title-track, “‘afterparty’ is a bittersweet reflection on power, longing, and the quiet grace of surrender. The song unfolds like the comedown after emotional excess — when the lights come up and you finally see what you’ve given away. It’s about realizing you could’ve been the one in control, the heartbreaker, if only you’d played it colder — but choosing instead to feel everything, even if it left you exposed and vulnerable. The track lives in that tender contradiction: power through vulnerability, and the beauty of letting love ruin you a little.”

On afterparty, april june continues her evolution as a storyteller of emotional nuance. Across the EP, she translates the turbulence of intimacy into glimmering soundscapes that shimmer with nostalgia and quiet devastation. Her lyrics capture the hazy transitions between connection and solitude, between the warmth of a crowded night and the stillness of its aftermath. With its bittersweet atmospheres, afterparty encapsulates that in-between state where heartbreak becomes beautiful, and nostalgia feels like a soft kind of freedom.

april june reveals, “This EP is the sound of endings — the end of a relationship, the haze of Madrid nights, the disorientation of getting lost at a party with strangers. It drifts through escapism, alienation, and the unbearable solitude of walking home at 4am under the first light of day, haunted by people who once meant too much. It’s a nod to the myth of closure, an exploration of the way old love lingers like smoke, and the fleeting freedom of late-summer night drives with the windows down.”
